Knock Out® Sunny Rose Tree combines the traditional elegance of a shrub rose with the vertical impact of a small tree. The lemon yellow flowers of Sunny Rose Tree bloom nonstop throughout the growing season with no need for deadheading. KnockOut® roses are known for their low maintenance and good looks, making them some of the most sought-after rose cultivars in the United States. Rosa ‘RADSunny’ has a lovely light scent that is perfect for combining with other fragrant roses or perennials to create a signature perfume in your garden.
Knock Out® Sunny is greatly improved from older shrub rose varieties. It is extremely cold tolerant and pest and disease resistant, adding up to far less annual maintenance and much more enjoyment. Grow this rose tree anywhere you need a strong vertical element. Container-grown Knock Out® Sunny makes an impressive and unexpected thriller at entryways or near an outdoor seating area. As the seasons change, planters can be updated with shallow-rooted annuals to give your outdoor space a fresh feel.
KnockOut® Sunny Rose Tree Care
Tree roses have similar care requirements to shrub roses. Plant them in full sun and in well-draining soil for the best flowering and deep green foliage. Protection from hot afternoon sun may be necessary in hot climates to keep your tree rose looking fresh and perky. Water this rose consistently to keep the soil moist. Mulch with shredded arborist chips for weed suppression and moisture retention in the soil.
Fertilize garden-grown tree roses with a granular, slow-release feed early in the spring and at mid-summer to ensure continued nutritional support. Look for fertilizers specifically labeled for roses and/or tomatoes.
Pruning for Knock Out® Sunny Tree Rose is minimal and should be done in late winter while the plant is still in a dormant state. Prune any winter-damaged growth and crossing branches. Sunny Rose Tree is self-cleaning and will replace spent flowers with new buds automatically.
Container-grown rose trees may need extra protection from strong winter winds and heavy rainstorms. Moving the pots to a more sheltered location near a house or garage is the easiest solution. Wrap heavy containers with a frost blanket or many layers of burlap to add insulation for the soil and roots.
KnockOut® Sunny Rose Tree Spacing
The overall height for Knock Out® Sunny Rose Tree is 4-5 feet with a canopy spread of 3-4 feet. Shorter perennials and shrubs should be spaced at least 12 inches from the trunk to reduce root competition.
