Hollywood Hibiscus™ Golden Globe™ has serious flower power, throwing big lemon-yellow blooms with a deep red-burgundy eye. The flowers face outward nicely, so you see the full color show instead of hunting through the foliage for hidden blooms. The glossy green foliage covers a neat mound about 48 inches tall and 60 inches wide. Golden Globe™ stands out from many tropical hibiscus because the display is long-lasting and the plant keeps producing on new wood through the warm season. Our container designer says this hibiscus makes an outstanding patio focal point because it gives a bold tropical look without needing a complicated planting scheme around it.
This Hibiscus rosa-sinensis is an evergreen tropical shrub grown for large, dish-shaped flowers and a long summer bloom cycle. The glossy foliage stays dense enough to support the flowers well, which helps the plant look full even between bloom flushes. It is especially useful in large containers, poolside plantings, and warm-climate borders needing a strong upright shape. In colder regions, use it as a seasonal container plant that can be moved indoors before frost.
Hollywood Hibiscus™ Golden Globe™ Tropical Hibiscus Care
Plant Golden Globe™ Tropical Hibiscus in full sun for the heaviest flowering, or afternoon shade in very hot climates. Use well-drained soil with good organic content and a slightly acidic to neutral pH for best growth in the ground or in containers. Drainage needs to stay reliable, since tropical hibiscus resents soggy roots.
Keep the soil evenly moist while the plant is establishing. Continue to water when the top layer begins to dry rather than letting the root zone dry hard. Feed regularly with a balanced or low-phosphorus fertilizer, because high-phosphorus bloom booster products can work against steady performance. In zones colder than 9, bring tropical hibiscus indoors before frost and expect slower winter growth in bright conditions.
Prune as needed to shape the shrub and encourage branching, with heavier trimming done in early spring since flowers form on new growth. Remove faded blooms and any weak interior stems to keep the canopy open and the looking fresh through the season. Container plants should be moved gradually between indoor and outdoor conditions so buds do not drop from sudden change.
Hollywood Hibiscus™ Golden Globe™ Tropical Hibiscus Spacing
Space plants about 48–60 inches apart in the landscape so the rounded habit has room to fill without crowding. For containers, use a pot at least 18–22 inches wide so the root system has enough soil volume to support repeat blooming.
In the landscape, pair Golden Globe™ Tropical Hibiscus with lantana and elephant ears for a heat-loving planting with broad foliage, contrasting flower forms, and strong summer presence. In containers, use mandevilla as the vertical partner and sweet potato vines at the rim to frame the yellow blooms without competing with them.
