The Lore of the Lace Crown

Before there were seven heuchera, there were seven eggs — and a forest that shaped them.

I

The Glade

Far from any traveled path, deep in a hidden forest clearing, adult dragons once lay coiled in a careful circle around seven newly laid eggs. Their massive forms stayed still and watchful, each shift of a wing slow and deliberate, forming a living shelter no storm could reach. The forest itself seemed to hold its breath around them.

II

The Hatching

Season by season, the shells began to crack. One by one, seven hatchlings emerged — fragile, uncertain, and utterly new. Their wings unfurled for the first time not as scales or feathers, but as something else entirely: fine-veined, lace-edged foliage, shimmering like living leaves catching first light.

III

Learning to Fly

Clumsy hops became rough glides, and rough glides became real flight. At the forest's edge, where the ground fell away to meet the wind, each of the seven faced the same trial in turn — and found their own way to trust the air. Soon they circled together above the canopy, no longer hatchlings, but young dragons who belonged to the sky.

IV

The Crown

Grown, the seven became guardians of the forest that raised them — each carrying forward a color long hidden within nature, gathered together as one crown. And this, the lore says, is only the first generation. The crown will deepen. New colors will rise.
