Growing Zones
The Bushel & Berry Buckle Blueberry not only offers flavorsome berries but also features lovely foliage and flowers for high ornamental appeal. Botanically called, Vaccinium myrsinites x corymbosum 'Corablue', this blueberry has a compact habit and produces attractive white flowers in spring before fruiting later in the year. A mature height of 2 to 3 feet tall makes it a winner for every garden no matter the size.
The Bushel & Berry Buckle Blueberry is fast-growing and forms a compact mound of dark green foliage reminiscent of a boxwood. Come fall, the leaves take on a purple tone, extending the season of interest. It is suitable for growing in zones 6 to 10 and drought tolerant, making it a great choice for southern parts. Bushel & Berry Buckle is also ideal for growing in a container or tight space.
Bushel & Berry Buckle Blueberry Care
Full sun is needed for the Bushel & Berry Buckle Blueberry to thrive and produce a tasty crop come summer. It favors acidic, fertile, moist and well-drained soil for optimum growth. Water regularly until established and from then on when fruiting, using harvested rainwater where possible. Feed in spring with an acidic slow-release fertilizer.
Minimal pruning is required as the Bushel & Berry Buckle Blueberry naturally remains compact and tidy. However, you can prune lightly and remove any dead wood in winter when the shrub is dormant. Container-grown specimens will require more frequent watering to keep the soil moist over the summer.
Bushel & Berry Buckle Blueberry Spacing
The Bushel & Berry Buckle Blueberry grows to a final size of 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. Multiple shrubs can be planted at a spacing of 3 to 4 feet apart to allow room for maturity.
