The long-lasting dark purple flowers of the Amethyst Dream Bachelor Button bloom in May and feature thin, wispy petals. Each bloom can reach up to 2.5 inches across for a showy display. Centaurea also features long, lance-shaped foliage in a silvery-green shade. This hardy plant can handle warm and dry conditions, making it a good choice for challenging landscapes or forgetful gardeners.
The upright, mounded growth habit makes this plant a wonderful option to include in sunny beds, borders, or mass plantings. Trim the flowers to include in arrangements or dry the blooms for long-lasting use. Amethyst Dream Bachelor Button has a compact form, easily fitting in areas with limited space. This lovely plant is a perennial in USDA zones 3 through 8.
Amethyst Dream Bachelor Button Care
Plant in full sun and water when the top several inches of soil are dry. Centaurea is drought-tolerant, but keeping up with regular watering ensures the plant looks its best. Soil should be rich and allow for good drainage.
Apply a balanced fertilizer during the spring to get the plant off to a healthy start. Trim back the growth in the fall.
Amethyst Dream Bachelor Button Spacing
