The Premium Minerva Amaryllis Gift Kit brings big, crisp red-and-white blooms quickly, usually 6–8 weeks after planting. This kit features a premium 30/32 cm bulb that grows to about 18–24 inches tall, and it keeps a neat footprint that’s roughly the width of the container it’s planted in. You’ll sometimes hear amaryllis called Hippeastrum, knight’s star lily, Barbados lily, or St. Joseph’s lily. We grow Minerva Amaryllis where we see it every day, because the first stalk opening feels like the start of the season indoors.
Best Locations For Growing Minerva Amaryllis Kit
This kit is made for indoor forcing, so a kitchen counter, dining table, bright living room side table, or a home office shelf near a window are all good spots. Keep it somewhere warm and away from cold drafts, since steady indoor temperatures help it flower on schedule. Amaryllis bulbs are toxic if eaten, so place it out of reach of pets and small children.
Minerva Amaryllis Kit Sunlight Requirements
Give it medium to bright indirect light, like near an east-facing window or a few feet back from a sunnier window where the rays don’t hit the leaves for long. Gentle morning sun is fine, but hot direct afternoon sun can shorten the life of the blooms.
Minerva Amaryllis Kit Care
Use the enclosed soil disc, or a well-drained potting mix and plant the bulb 1–2 inches deep, leaving the top portion of the bulb above the soil line. Rotate the pot every few days once the stalk starts stretching so it grows straighter, and add a small stake if the flower stalk leans as the blooms develop. After flowering, you can snip off spent blooms and cut the stalk down once it softens if you plan to keep the bulb for next year.
Watering Minerva Amaryllis Kit
Water lightly at planting. Wait to water again until you see growth and the top inch of soil feels dry. Average home humidity is usually enough, but keep the soil on the dry side rather than damp.
Feeding Minerva Amaryllis Kit
For the initial bloom cycle, the bulb has plenty of stored energy, so fertilizer isn’t necessary while it’s producing stalks. If you want to save it for reblooming, start feeding after it finishes flowering with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer every 2–4 weeks through spring and summer while the leaves are growing.
