Amazing Daisies® Marshmallow Shasta Daisy Care
Hardy in zones 5-9. Plant this in full sun for best results. It will tolerate partial sun and partial shade, but may provide less prolific blooms throughout the season. Your soil should be average or fertile. A neutral or slightly acidic soil pH is best. Well-draining soil is essential for overwintering purposes and this can be achieved by amending the soil or by planting within raised beds.
Consistent dead-heading will keep your plant blooming prolifically throughout the summer. Simply pinch or cut the spent blooms to allow new buds to appear. If there are sporadic blooms in the early part of the season and you’re looking to have a consistent blooming experience, simply pinch off the early buds to allow more time for new buds to appear.
Container-grown daisies should be watered more frequently in hot spells and might need an occasional dose of water-soluble fertilizer to sustain bright petals. As cooler weather arrives, cut the stems back near ground level and apply a thin layer of mulch if harsh winters loom. In mild climates, old foliage often regrows quickly after winter’s chill lifts.
Amazing Daisies® Marshmallow Shasta Daisy Spacing
In most planting applications, the spacing is recommended to be about 20”-22” on center. A single clump fits snugly in a container around 10 to 12 inches wide, giving roots enough room while preventing soggy soil. For container arrangements, you may decide to tighten up the space between neighboring plants. Keep in mind that you should check that the neighboring plants are not overcrowding and fighting for nutrients.
